Roof tiles and bricks are deeply rooted in the Danish culture of building

For more than a millennium clay has been extracted and fired for building purposes i Denmark, and this tradition has survived all other trends within building. So compared to its number of inhabitants no other country can match us by the number of brick and tileworks. These works used to be family owned and many were inherited over generations. This contributed to giving the Danish tile and brickworks a distinctive culture. But similarly to many other industries the tile and brickworks also encountered heavier demands on product development, quality, efficiency and energy savings, meaning that most works closed down or amalgamated. Piper Tegl is one of these family-owned brick and tile producers rich in traditions. The Piper family set up business in 1911 and Piper Tegl is now owned by the third and fourth generation. Very early the importance of being able to meet the ever-increasing challenges was acknowledged. Being able to meet these challenges and of course through acquisitions, Piper Tegl has grown into the biggest tile and brick group inScandinavia.
