Vindø Brickwork
The brickworks, which is situated on the southern bank of Mariager Fjord near Hobro, was founded in 1850.
Today Vindø Teglværk is a modern, fully automated works with an annual production of 25 million bricks in Danish and German formats, with one production line for moulded bricks and one line for machine-moulded bricks.
A special moulder is used to manufacture special bricks such as Unika-Longo - a facing brick in a 529x108x38 mm format - and 'hand-made' floor tiles.
The bricks are placed in a 'lying' position by the robot in order to achieve smoother colour transitions when firing in the 138 m long natural-gas-fired kiln.
The range includes single colour red and yellow bricks and a number of bricks in different red/yellow and yellow-brown shades that are produced by means of special clay-mixing techniques.
Vindø Teglværk employs approximately 20 personnel and is fully owned by the Piper Group.
