Hammershøj Brickwork

A thoroughly rationalized brickworks with an annual capacity of 70 million bricks from three separate production lines Works no. 1 is a specialised works producing the moulded series of facing bricks, Unika·Tegl®, as well as special formats, such as mission bricks. Earlier days' charming coal firing is combined with the efficient gas burning of modern times.
The works was totally reconditioned in 2000. Works no. 2 is a fully automated factory producing wire cut bricks in Danish, Norwegian, Swedish and German formats. This plant has its own clay preparation with a 16,000-cubic-metre swamp. Drying is done in a drying tunnel and firing in the 137-metre long tunnel kiln. The plant was started up in 1975, but has continuously been renovated.
The assortment includes red, redbrownish and brown facing bricks with varying surfaces. Works no. 3 is a modern plant producing moulded facing bricks. Production takes place via the works' own 10,000-cubic-metre swamp in 3 presses for moulded bricks and 1 press for "handmoulded" bricks, in box kilns and a 135-m long tunnel kiln. This works was built in 1978 and has been modernized several times.
Hammershøj Teglværk employs about 50 people and is fully owned by the Piper group.
