Gandrup Brickwork

One of the largest facing brickworks in Northern Europe with an annual output of 80 million facing bricks. This works runs two separate production lines. Works no. 1 is a fully automated factory, producing wire-cut bricks in Danish, Norwegian and Swedish formats.

The plant was built in 1980 and has continuously been modernized. The plant has its own swamp which can take 10,000 cubic metres of clay. Drying is done in box kilns.

The tunnel kiln is 125 m long and powered by natural gas. Setting, unloading and packaging is done automatically. Capacity is 35 million bricks annually. Works no. 2 is a fully automated plant for the production of moulded facing bricks. The plant was ready for production in 1989. Four presses for moulded bricks ensure an annual capacity of 45 million yellow, red or rose facing bricks. This plant has its own clay preparation with a 10,000- cubic-metre swamp. Here we have one of Denmark's first tunnel dryers.

The natural gas powered tunnel kiln is 145 m long and 8.45 m wide.

Gandrup Teglværk employs about 50 people and is fully owned by the Piper group.
